Mingde High School Facts
Founded in 1903, Mingde School is one of prestigious public schools in Changsha, capital city of Hunan Province, China.
Chairman Mao Tse-tung spoke highly of Mingde for its contribution to China’s education. Chiang Kai-shek, the leader of Chinese Nationalist Party, captioned Mingde “Aim at Perfection” in his inscription.
Over 120,000 students including 17 National Academy members graduated from the School.
25,000+ students in K-12 are studying at 8 campuses in China.
Started collaborating with Canadian high schools on Sino-Canadian Exchange Students Program (SCESP) in 2009.
With a MOU signed in March 2012, Mingde School partners with BC School District 62, Camosun College and University of Victoria on the Academic Pathway program.
After two years’ preparation in English and finishing Chinese high school curriculum at Mingde High School, SCESP students will study at grade 12 in Canada and then apply for universities or colleges overseas.
Over 200 SCESP students have graduated from the Program in the past 5 years.
156 SCESP students are currently studying grade 10 and 11 at Mingde in China.
Nearly 60 students will study at Canadian partner high schools in the fall of 2015, and 90 in 2016.
